Fed; National road toll at 59
The deaths of an elderly couple in a collision in Tasmania today has taken the national
holiday road toll to 59.
Three people were also killed on roads in New South Wales and Victoria today.
And New South Wales police fear the toll may climb even higher, with motorists seeming
to have become complacent about fatigue, wearing seatbelts, alcohol and speed.
The elderly couple were killed instantly when their car collided with a truck on a
road east of Hobart in the afternoon.
